Exploring Parenting Time Investigations
Parenting Time Investigations in Michigan are often needed to help in custody legal battles. As licensed Michigan private investigators, we are frequently asked to investigate what one parent does, or sometimes does not do when they have their children. This type of an investigation is called a “parenting time investigation”, “custodial investigation”, “custody enforcement investigation” or “custodial surveillance”. This type of investigation is usually conducted to assist a father with parental rights, parenting schedules, shared custody or other parental rights. Many of these clients in Michigan are parents who wish to increase the amount of visitation time they have with their children and fear that the other parent is either not with the children or worse, is engaged in some type of inappropriate behavior in the presence of the children.
If you suspect that your child’s other parent is using their parenting time inappropriately, call ASG to decide what your options are!
As licensed Michigan private investigators, we conduct surveillance of the other parent when they are with the children to see what really occurs. This surveillance helps to support Parenting Time Investigation. We regularly find parents who pick up their children for the weekend or evening and then promptly drop them off at the grand parents, at a babysitters or leave them home alone while that parent goes off to party, work a second job or go out with a new boy/girl friend.
We regularly follow the unfit parent while they have scheduled parenting time and document their activities on video. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words and a video of what your ex is really doing with your children will be worth a million words to a judge.
Our parenting time investigators are equipped with state-of-the-art hidden video equipment allowing us to follow the other parent inside of places like bars, motels, casinos and more. This type of video evidence will demonstrate to the court just how the other parent spends their parenting time or visitation.
Background Investigations – Often in child custody disputes and parenting time court battles, it helps to know about the background of your child’s other parent. Things like arrests, civil litigation, personal protection orders, true financial condition, alcohol and substance problems and more can be of great benefit when fighting to enforce your rights and to protect your children. Several examples of visitation and parenting time investigations we have conducted:
A father looking to exercise his parental rights and to increase the amount of visitation time he spends with his children retains us to document that his wife is actually leaving the children with a babysitter four or five times each week while she spends the night at her boyfriend’s house.
A mother wishing to gain full custody hires us to document her husband is taking their children to his work place where he works as a security guard. He let the children sleep in the car outside of the security booth as he worked.
A mother retained us to document her ex-husband’s visitation time with the children. On three separate school nights (during the same week) he had multiple people over to the house to party. We filmed people coming and going from the house until four in the morning each night, playing loud music, drinking and even racing motorcycles up and down the road at three a.m.
